Tie a Yellow Ribbon Around The Ole Oak TreeThis song was originally written about a man who was met on a bus by a group of students. He was an ex-con and was going home, hoping that his woman would have tied a yellow ribbon round the tree to let him know he was still welcome. It was only later that this practice was used for returning soldiers. The legend did precede the song... Somehow I think the line 'I'll stay on the bus, forget about us and put the blame on me.' doesn't apply to soldiers.
